The Matrix: There is No Spoon
In the movie the Matrix (1999 ) Neo, Keanu Reeves, has an encounter with a boy as he waits to see the “Oracle.”
Spoon boy: Do not try and bend the spoon. That’s impossible. Instead… only try to realize the truth.
Neo: What truth?
Spoon boy: There is no spoon.
Neo: There is no spoon?
Spoon Boy: Then you’ll see that it is not the spoon that bends. It is only yourself.
Last night a few friends and I watched “The Matrix.” I had watched it many years ago however I didn’t realize how relevant this movie is in beginning to explain that we live in a holographic universe of our own creation.
This short scene in the movie demonstrates in a short exchange of 62 seconds what it would take me a chapter in a book to explain. “It is only yourself” that creates your reality. “There is no spoon.”
Everything in this Universe – even that which appears to be empty space – is comprised of energy. That includes you, me, the chair, and even our thoughts and feelings. The object in Neo’s hand is only energy appearing to be shaped in what we call a spoon. It is our reality as we choose to see it.
Have you ever had an idea about someone based on limited knowledge and then you began to spend more time with them and you see them differently? Have their facial features ever changed for you? Did they get pretty or young or old or ugly or whatever you began to see within them? This is based on your inner perception of this person. It is only true because you see it as true. Someone else may see them as completely opposite of what you see them. The person you perceive is the “spoon” and the perception bends based on you.
You create your reality everyday. Your Personal Universe is different from another person’s Personal Universe. You may think you are experiencing the same thing however you are not because everything you are within is reflected outside of you.
Ralph Waldo Trine (1869-1958) says, “The springs of life are all from within.” Therefore be aware of how you are perceiving your universe it may just be an illusion.
