When I first began to meditate, I was going through a program that had me sit for 15 minutes in quiet contemplation. I already knew it would be enjoyable, just to sit and think without interruption because I have driven hours and hours without the sound of the radio in the background. I just listened to my own thoughts. I would resolve issues or think about ways to do things better.
The one thing that was very difficult for me while doing this program was trying to visualize. I think it was because I didn’t know what it was supposed to be like. So what is visualization? What does using your imagination have to do with manifesting.
Well first let’s to deal with what is visualization. Visualization is not like closing your eyes and seeing as you do with your eyes open. It is more of a feeling. It can be flashes of pictures or a series of colors. Some people visualize as clearly as looking at a motion picture. When I first began, I thought I was doing something wrong because I didn’t see in lifelike pictures. I assure you, in whatever manner you visualize, it is correct.
Do an experiment with me. Think about a big shiny red delicious apple sitting on the counter in a basket. Pick it up and take a bite out of it. The Apple is so fresh that you could hear the crunch in the next room. It is extremely juicy. So much so that the liquid is running down your chin. The taste of the Apple is sweet and the smell is inviting.
Did you feel the saliva in your mouth? Does it taste sweet? What happened? You were using your visualization and your imagination together. You may have seen a picture in your mind or had feelings associated with eating an apple.
In this activity, you are using your visualization and your imagination together. Eating an apple is an experience that you have done in the past and you used it to create your visualization. You used your imagination to pick up the apple and take a bite and taste the sweetness.
If you’re still not sure about visualizing, take the time over the next few days to close your eyes and think about what you had for dinner the night before or think about your high school days and something that happened there. Something pleasant. Or think about what you want to do the next day or what outfit you want to wear. There are a number of things that you can think about with your minds eye that can help you realize how you visualize. This will help you in the future to use visualization for those things that you know and understand and then to use your imagination to create those things that you want.
Walt Disney was famous for his imagination. It is said that he drew Mickey Mouse on a napkin and look what his imaginary Mickey Mouse built. He started with the idea and he began to visualize what he wanted in his life and built an empire. You can build your empire using your imagination and visualization. Therefore why not use this power to create the life that you want. It is an integral part of manifesting your dreams.
When we do “The One Command” we formulate the command to ask for what we want and then we visualize what it looks like, what it feels like, even what it smells like to help us convey to the Creator what we really want. The feelings that we convey while doing the visualization is as though we already possess what we are asking to receive. These may be small details but they are very important.
Matthew 21:18-22 reads: Early in the morning as Jesus was on his way back to the city he was hungry. Seeing a fig tree by the road he went up to it but found nothing on it except leaves. Then he said to it, “May you never bear fruit again!” Immediately the tree withered. When the disciples saw this they were amazed. “How did the fig tree wither so quickly?” They asked. Jesus replied, “truly I tell you, if you have faith and do not doubt not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, go throw yourself into the sea and it will be done. If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.“
Visualization allows you to have that feeling of already receiving. Once you have asked for what you want and visualize having it, release it, let it go and do not be emotionally attached to it. You have given it over to your Creator. Let him bring you to what you need, to achieve your desire.
To practice, with the help of active meditation, click on the “Visualization” episode on the blogtalk player on the right. It even includes the apple exercise. The episode is 30 minutes in length.
May peace, joy and happiness be yours.
As you have believed, let it be done to you. And It is So!
